English workshops in London
On 17 May students from our school went to London for a trip. We stayed at host families.
On the first day we went on a boat trip. This ferry was really big. There were many people, from different countries for example Germany, France. When we arrived to London we were walking along this city and than we were on the second, smaller trip on the River Thames. We saw London Eye, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and many other buildings. In London lots of people do morning jogging. It surprised me because in Poland people seldom do it. When you are running on the street everyone is staring at you, but in this city it's natural. Lots of people sit there on the grass in the park, they do what they want; read, eat, talk, play the guitar. Even men, who wear suits sit on the grass with newspapers, or their laptops.
When we were walking around London we saw Buckingham Palace, this is a place, where queen Elizabeth II lives. She was inside there, we knew it because there was a flag on the roof.
We passed the Westminster Abbey, there were coronations of kings and queens of London. We sat on the Trafalgar Square too, and we met there a girl who attended our school in Zdunska Wola.
We visited many interesting places. In the St. Paul's Cathedral we had to climb 528 stairs to the top, and we passed through 3 Galleries: Whispering Gallery, Golden Gallery and Stone Gallery.
When we were on the Piccadilly Circus and we were shopping, two girls of our group saw the famous actor Hugh Grant, he was getting into the taxi and many girls were running after the car!
We visited National Gallery and British Museum, there were great exhibits there! In the British Museum I saw the oldest stone of the world and there were many objects from ancient Egypt. I saw the fragment of small part of the Sphinx's beard in this museum. Some believe that it was part of original figure but stylistic details suggest that it was added during a restoration of the Sphinx's about 1000 years later.
Natural History Museum was the most interesting to me. There was a big dinosaur and it looked as if it was alive.
Unfortunately we didn't visit Big Ben because people usually can't go there. But we saw it everyday when we were in London, and I knew that The Clock Tower at the Houses of Parliament is reffered to as "Big Ben", but "Big Ben" is in fact the name of the bell inside.
The best and the most exciting object to me in London were: London Eye, Old Royal Observatory, Museum Madame Tussaud's and the Oxford Street.
I really liked London Eye, in fact it's like an eye. When we were in a cab we saw a big part of the city. Our ride took 30 minutes so we had enough time to see everything around.
In the Old Royal Observatory I could stand on two hemispheres: east and west, because there is a line of longitude, it's amazing that I stood there.
The funniest museum for me was Museum Madame Tussauds. There we saw figures of the famous people in the world. Everyone took photos. We saw figures of Michael Jackson, Queen Elizabeth II, The Beatles, Shrek, Elvis Presley, Britney Spears, Bob Marley and many sportsmen, other actors and singers. There were figures of scientists for example Albert Einstein. There was even figure of our Polish Pope – John Paul II.
And the Oxford Street. It was amazing too! for girls more I think. On this street there is a huge shop PRIMARK. There are a lots of clothes, there is everything to wear! We had just 2 hours, so we had to hurry up and we had no time to change and see everything. By the way it was great! In this place there are very cheap things. You can buy a T-shirt for only 1 £. I bought blouses, a bag, a skirt, shoes and clothes for my younger sister. It was the best place, I'd like to stay there all day.
London is a very big and interesting city. In 4 days we visited many fantastic places, but I think there are hundreds objects like these. We met many Polish people and I was surprised as this world is so small. I'd like to live there because there are many cultures, nice people and everything is better than in Poland.

Our school's Patron
Our school's Patron
On 29 February 2008 our school received the name of Saint Luigi Orione. The official ceremony of giving the school the patron's name - the Saint Luigi Orione Lower Secondary School No 2 in Zdunska Wola took place in our town on 29 May 2008 at 10.00 am.
The ceremony was attended by local authorities as well as superiors of The Sons of Divine Providence Congregation. Our school in Zdunska Wola is in close neighbourhood to Dom Misyjny and Wysze Seminarium in Zduska Wola and the priests were kind co-organizers of the ceremony. The event was more solemn because there were representatives of all the schools in town with their banners.

These are famous quotations by our patron:
- Czyncie dobro zawsze, czyncie dobro wszystkim, zla nigdy nikomu.
"Do good always, to all, evil to none".
- Dwóch rzeczy nam potrzeba, duzo modlitwy i duzo miloci.
Two things we need – lots of prayer and lots of love.
- Kto chce by Synem Boskiej Opatrznoci, musi miec szczególny kult do Najwietszego Sakramentu.
Who wants to be divine providence son they must have a special cult for Holy Sacrament.
- Nie miedzy palmami chce zyc i umierac, ale miedzy ubogimi, którzy sa Jezusem Chrystusem!
“it is not among the palm trees that I would like to die, but among the poor who are Jesus Christ”.
- Postaw mnie Panie nad przepascia piekla, abym ja zamknal twym milosierdziem.
Place me Lord over hell precipice to close it with yours charity.
- Tylko podczas Mszy swietej bedziemy mieli jedno serce z Jezusem.
Only during saint mass we will have one heart with Jesus Christ.
- Tylko z miloscia sie zwyciaza swiat.
Only with love we can overcome the world.
“true beacons of faith and of civilisation”.
‘fill with love the furrows of the earth (that are instead) so full of selfishness and hatred”
“ONLY CHARITY WILL SAVE THE WORLD”.
Without prayer, nothing good is done. God's works are done with our hands joined and on our knees. Even when we run, we must remain spiritually kneeling before Him.

Born at Pontecurone, in the province of Alessandria (Piedmont), Don Luigi Orione was a student at the Valdocco Oratory in Turin.
He gained the attention of St. John Bosco, who numbered him among his favorite pupils. Since age 13, Luigi suffered health problems.
However, three years later, at age 16, he was present at St. John Bosco's death in Turin in 1888.
Immediately upon his death, Luigi's ailments were miraculously cured.
In 1892, the 20-year-old seminarian opened his own oratory, and the following year he started a vocational school for the poor.
He was ordained a priest on 13 April 1895.
One of the priests who was in his inner circle was Lorenzo Perosi, who later became Perpetual Director of the Sistine Choir and one of the most famous composers of sacred music. Perosi was born in the same year and the same province (Tortona) as Orione; they remained lifelong friends.
In 1908, Orione went to Messina and Reggio Calabria, both of which were devastated by respective earthquakes.
He dedicated three years to help those in need, most especially the caring of orphans.
In 1915 he went to Marsica when that region had a similarly devastating earthquake.
At the end of World War I, Don Orione began to expand his work.
He founded schools, farming colonies, and charity organizations -- always with a special emphasis on helping orphans and the poor.
Over the next two decades, he started foundations throughout Italy and the Americas.
In the winter of 1940, Don Orione started to suffer serious cardiac and pulmonary ailments.
He went to Sanremo to recuperate, but not without a tinge of regret.
On March 9, 1940, he is recorded as saying, "It is not among the palm trees that I would like to die," he said, "but among the poor who are Jesus Christ."
Three days later, surrounded by fellow priests of his Orionine order, Luigi Orione died. His last words were, "Jesus, Jesus! I am going."
Orione's body was exhumed in 1965.
End of School Exams
End of School Exams
Every pupil in Lower Secondary School must take exams which check their knowledge in all subjects at the end of their learning. Exams last two days. The first one concerns subjects like Polish, History and the Art. Pupils must write an essay and answer several questions from Literature, History and Art.The second examination covers subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Chemistry. Pupils must solve a set of exercises, which sometimes are very difficult.
This year examinations are on 22 and 23 April. Each of them last for two hours, and altogether it is possible to get 100 points. This exams are very important - what next school we can go to depends on the results we get. Sometimes we call these tests "Small Matura Test".
